Each year we get a true celebration of the very best in filmmaking. Far from the political dazzle of the US awards season the British Independent Film Awards (lovingly known hereafter as the BIFAs) casts a sharp light on the very best in Independent film, focusing on the emerging talents, the strongest voices among them.

This year the awards ceremony will take place at the regular haunt of Old Billingsgate in London on the 6th of December. It’s a annual joy for us here on HeyUGuys as we get to catch up with the actors, writers,, directors and producers on the red carpet, look out for those going up on the 6th.

The nominations for the 2015 awards were announced this morning and it’s another treasure trove of films to dive into. The Lobster and Macbeth are both well presented, with Ben Wheatley’s divisive High-Rise also honoured. Asif Kapadia’s impressive documentary on the life of Amy Winehouse also gets a nod or two.

We’re looking forward to the 6th, here is the full list of nominations.
