FrightFest 2013 Poster

It is one of the most infamous weekends in the cinematic calendar and the good folks over at FrightFest have just announced their full line up of films for their 2013 festival.

The opening and closing night films have already been announced; The Ford Brothers’ India-shot zombie film The Dead 2: India will open the festival and the Rabies team of Aharon Keshales & Navot Papushado are returning to the Empire in Leicester Square two years after their auspicious debut to close with their latest, Big Bad Wolves.

The full line up can be found here but it looks like it will continue to be a truly global event. The latest film from Splice director Vincenzo Natali will play, as will the eagerly awaited Dementamania from Kit Ryan. Elsewhere horror fans will have the chance to catch up with V/H/S/2 if they haven’t already on VOD, and there is Rewind This! the VHS documentary from Christopher Palmer, Josh Johnson, & Carolee Mitchell.

Any new film from Bobcat Goldthwait is a treat and Frightfesters will be able to enjoy Willow Creek alongside Adam Green’s Hatchet III. As is usual it will be the films you don’t see coming which promise the most, although the festival is showing the highly anticipated You’re Next as well as the strange inclusion of the Ghostcop film R.I.P.D. It’ll be interesting to see how that one goes down.

The festival plays through the bank holiday weekend in August, beginning on the 22nd and pushing on until the 26th. It’s a truly wonderful festival, with true horror fans getting to enjoy the new voices in the genre. The Empire cinema in Leicester Square is the place to be. so click here to visit the Film 4 FrightFest homepage for more info and ticket booking.
