Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables is by far one of the most anticipated films of the year, hitting US theatres on Christmas Day, in perfect position for the coming awards season, and I’m rooting for a handful of nominations come Oscar time.

We caught two excellent new posters for the film last week, giving us our first good look at Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter, and now two beautiful new TV spots have been released, teasing us with yet more to look forward to.

“Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption—a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.”

Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried lead a fantastic cast, with a terrific supporting cast headed up by Baron Cohen, Bonham Carter, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, and Isabelle Allen.

Hooper is directing from a script by William Nicholson (Gladiator, Shadowlands), who adapts the original classic novel of the same name by Victor Hugo and the world-famous stage musical.

Les Misérables will be released on Christmas Day in the US, and will arrive slightly later in the UK on 11th January. I can’t wait. For now, here are the brilliant new TV spots. Enjoy.
