This morning the press here in London had the chance to see Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave and the response was the most positive unfurling of superlatives so far in the festival. This evening the film had its Gala premiere in London and we were on the carpet to talk to the cast and crew of McQueen’s acclaimed film.
Chiwetel Ejiofor has been the focus of much of the critical acclaim and it is his lead performance which gives the director a fine and fearless centre to his film. We were in New York recently to hear Steve McQueen talk about this film, which he refers to as coming to him ‘as a science-fiction movie’, and you can read our report here, and our review of the film here.
