With Agents of S.H.I.EL.D. set to premiere on ABC on September 24th in the US and on September 27th on Channel 4 in the UK, there’s only one question on the minds of all fans. Which characters from the comic books will they use? We already know of a few very obscure additions – the human persona of little-known Thunderbolts villain Graviton for example – but there are many, MANY other characters that the team working on the series could bring to the small screen. Some of these you will without a doubt recognise, and others you may have never heard of. However, please note that all of them are owned by Marvel Studios. That’s why you won’t see any Spider-Man, X-Men or Fantastic Four characters here, despite how great it would be for them to also appear…

Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil
Last year, Marvel Studios regained the rights to Daredevil after Fox turned down a deal to give away Fantastic Four characters Galactus and the Silver Surfer in exchange for being allowed to keep the Man Without Fear. As of right now, it doesn’t appear as if the superhero – who was played by Ben Affleck in 2003’s critically panned Daredevil movie – will factor into their Phase 3 plans, and Marvel are clearly worried that after one failed movie, bringing him back to the big screen might not be all that smart of an idea. So, why not introduce Matt Murdock (in his persona as a lawyer) in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? A recurring role on the series defending a superpowered being taken down by Agent Coulson’s team could serve as a way of reintroducing the character to audiences, alluding to his Daredevil alter-ego and leaving the door wide open for his own television spin-off or movie.
