2014 will see the release of four major comic book movies: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy. While the first three movies listed are sequels, there are still plenty of characters making their big screen debuts in them, as well as the roster of new faces in James Gunn’s take on Marvel’s superhero version of Star Wars.
As you may already know, there isn’t so much as a single DC superhero movie being released in 2014, and since it was revealed that Batman Vs. Superman has been moved to 2016, there won’t be anything next year either. For that reason, the following list is obviously very Marvel-centric! 10. Groot (Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy)
Vin Diesel spent months teasing fans about his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while speculation ranged between everyone from Luke Cage to The Vision, but if was finally revealed that he would be lending his voice and mannerisms to Groot in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the hero, Groot is a sentient tree-like creature and best friends with Rocket Raccoon. However, his vocabulary is limited to, “I am Groot!” For that reason, it’s obviously up to Vin Diesel then to inject life into the character, and if the model above is anything to go by, it’s clear that the Fast & Furious star’s face has been heavily incorporated into the CGI creation. He’s sure to become a fan favourite character this summer…
